    Thirteen year old Michal Polanski was torn from his family in Gnojnik Poland during World War 2, leaving Michal a Polish prisoner of war at the hands of the Germans.

    After the turmoil of his early years and surviving the horrific side of war, he finds himself a passenger on the SSS Kaugum sailing for Australian shores. He leaves behind the nightmares of his past and any hope of returning to his homeland.
